Home Language Week 2024

What is your favorite word in your home language? How would you translate it into other languages? Would you like to share that story your parents used to tell you when you were a kid? During our Home Language Week, our students have been expressing their love for their languages by sharing stories with others, translating their favorite words into different languages, and celebrating our St. Jordi’s Day tradition with roses and books.

St. Jordi’s Day was celebrated on Tuesday, 23rd of April, with the support of our MYP and our CAS students in the Diploma, who helped organize all the book stalls and even sell some roses, following our tradition in Catalonia. The school was spread with literature and love, and the students learned a little bit more about this special day in our city. Ana Viladomiu, a writer of “The Last Neighbour”, visited us and explained to our MYP students how it is to live in La Pedrera, one of most emblematic buildings of Antonio Gaudí.

Our students could appreciate the beauty and richness of being surrounded by so many different languages. Special thanks to Usborne Books to organise the book stalls and help us celebrate St Jordi within our community!
