Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family can make. At St PETER’S SCHOOL, we offer a unique path: the full IB Continuum—PYP, MYP, and DP—entirely in English, preparing students from their earliest steps until university. We are the only school in Barcelona to offer this complete International Baccalaureate journey.
But what truly sets us apart is not just that we offer all three IB programs. It’s how we bring them to life—through real-world learning, science and technology, the arts, and a strong connection with our local and global communities.
From Nursery to Diploma: IB Educational Journey in Barcelona
At St PETER’S SCHOOL, the IB journey starts early. Our Nursery programme welcomes children aged 1 and 2, offering a play-based, curiosity-driven environment that mirrors the inquiry-led approach of the IB. Carefully designed by experienced educators, this stage ensures a seamless transition into the Primary Years Program(PYP) at age 3.
As students grow, they move through the Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP)—each stage intentionally connected to foster critical thinking, international-mindedness, and personal growth.

Why Families Choose the IB
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is recognised worldwide for its academic rigour and commitment to developing well-rounded, ethical, and reflective learners. But it’s more than a curriculum—it’s a way of thinking and learning.
IB learners are encouraged to:
- Ask questions and seek deeper understanding
- Think critically and creatively
- Connect learning across disciplines
- Connect learning to the changes and uncertainties happening in the world
- Collaborate and communicate effectively
- Develop a sense of responsibility—locally and globally
IB at St PETER’S: More Than Academics
What makes our IB education truly distinctive at St PETER’S is how we put these values into action. Across all stages, our students engage in real projects, scientific inquiry, creative expression, and service to the community.
Here are just a few examples of how our IB learners explore and grow:
- Brain Week in Foundation Years sparks curiosity about the human mind through interactive games and workshops.
- Primary & Middle Years science collaborations encourage peer-led inquiry and innovation.
- Year 6’s interdisciplinary unit on AI combines ethics, design, and programming.
- Art projects foster identity, imagination, and storytelling through visual expression.
- The Space Programme (Years 5–11) includes travelling to ESA (European Space Agency) in Year 5, launching CanSats and CubeSats into the stratosphere.
- Year 4 Forensic Science project turns students into detectives using logic, DNA, and observation.
- Year 7 dramatizes Macbeth, making Shakespeare relevant through modern performance.
- Year 3 speeches on injustice build confidence and advocacy.
- Year 9 TED Talks empower students to speak up about issues they care about.
- Year 5’s trip to the European Space Agency (ESA) inspires scientific curiosity and real-world application.
- Student-led conferences from Primary onward help learners take ownership of their progress.
- Service actions like Race Against Hunger and chocolatada solidaria connect learning to purpose.
- F4’s cooking project connects culture and community through hands-on learning.
- International Day, the Christmas Fair, and St Jordi’s Week celebrate our diversity and togetherness.
This is the IB in practice: active, reflective, and meaningful.

Inquiry-Based. Globally Connected. Rooted in Barcelona.
Our students learn in English, but they grow within a deeply connected Catalan and Spanish cultural context. From early childhood, they explore local traditions, language, culture, and identity, giving them the confidence to engage with the world. They learn Spanish, Catalan and French as additional languages, becoming multilingual, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children.
And while many schools prepare students to take exams, we prepare students to ask better questions. We assess what matters most: understanding, analysis, creativity, and growth. Our assessment methods are respected worldwide and valued by top universities.
IB Students Are Future-Ready
IB graduates from St PETER’S SCHOOL don’t just score well on exams. They thrive at leading universities and become changemakers in every field. Whether they become scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, or activists, they leave with the skills, values, and mindset to lead in an uncertain world.
The Extended Essay, the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programme, and Theory of Knowledge prepare students not just for university, but for life.
