Three students from St PETER’S have been named finalists in the prestigious Philosophy Olympiad of Catalonia, marking a significant achievement in a competition that challenges participants with contemporary philosophical issues. Ingrid Rojo, a Year 11 student, has excelled in the dissertation category, while Isabel Dyer and Helena Maixer, both Year 10 students, have distinguished themselves in the moral dilemma category.
This distinction is part of a continuing tradition at St PETERS, where students consistently find themselves among the finalists and winners of the Olympiad, thanks to the dedicated preparation they receive in their philosophy classes led by our teacher, Josep Soler. His commitment to fostering deep, critical, and creative thinking skills has been instrumental in guiding our students to these heights of academic recognition.
With the final round scheduled for Saturday, 2nd March, we would like to congratulate Ingrid, Isabel, and Helena. The Philosophy Olympiad not only offers a platform for engaging with deep philosophical questions but also encourages students to develop thoughtful perspectives on complex societal issues.
The success of our students in this year’s competition underscores St Peter’s commitment to academic excellence and the cultivation of intellectual curiosity. It reflects the hard work, dedication, and talent of our students and the quality of mentorship and teaching they receive.
We look forward to the final round and extend our best wishes to our finalists. Their achievements serve as an inspiration and a reminder of the transformative power of philosophy in fostering critical thinking and understanding.
Stay tuned for further updates as we cheer on our young philosophers in their pursuit of excellence at the upcoming finals.
