St PETER’S Mental Health Week Raises Awareness on the Importance of Taking Care of Our Minds

Mental Health Week concluded with great success, marking a period where our commitment to the mental well-being of our school community was vividly demonstrated. Through the dedication of our teachers and the active participation of our students, we created a nurturing environment that fostered understanding, support, and growth in mental health awareness.

PYP Highlights: Empowering Young Minds

In the Primary Years Programme, students took charge of their learning by selecting workshops that encouraged dialogue, reflection, compromise, and resilience in facing challenges. Our teachers helped guide these experiences, and we extend our gratitude for their support.

Grouping students from different grades in workshops enhanced enjoyment, connection, cooperation, and learning, addressing the social, emotional, practical, and physical facets of mental health.

MYP/DP Insights: A Journey of Awareness and Connection

Middle Years and Diploma Programme students benefited from an enriching talk by “Experiencia Propia,” (Personal experience) sparking deep reflection and a reality check on mental health issues. The discussions that followed showcased our students’ engagement and curiosity, especially the Year 7 students, whose empathetic insights were particularly commendable.

These interactions among older students highlighted the value of a stigma-free environment for mental health discussions, fostering a supportive and understanding community.

Our Ongoing Commitment: A Call to Action

We encourage everyone to continue prioritizing mental health by engaging in open conversations, caring for personal well-being, and seeking help when needed. We also invite you to explore the informative posters around our school to further awareness about mental health’s importance.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone for their dedication and involvement in making Mental Health Week a significant and enriching experience. Let’s maintain this momentum, supporting each other in fostering a culture of understanding and care that extends beyond this week and contributes to a healthier, more empathetic community.
