On 12th October, 17 Y11 students and their teachers set off for a new adventure. First stop: Washington DC, US capital and centre of government. 1600 Pensylvania Avenue, aka the White House, was our first port of call, followed by the National Archive Museum to see the US Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the US Constitution. The US Capitol and the Washington Memorial added to our US political tour, but we still made time for a bit of sightseeing and shopping in beautiful Georgetown, as well as attending the opening day of the Air and Space museum.
A cycle trip along the Potomac River took us to Arlington Cemetery, where we witnessed the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard was followed by a nighttime visit to the Lincoln Memorial to round off an amazing stay in DC.
Now the students have arrived in Columbus, Ohio, and have settled in well with their host families, ready for adventures yet to come!
